SD for Women - Choke overarm

Submitted by Bodhidharma on Mon, 06/09/2008 at 4:22am.

A video demonstration is available at http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=tdOsi6iVfe4

Again as before, you will need to raise your head to see how the punch will come in. As it comes in, twist your head and upper body sharply to the same side as the punching hand.
As you roll to the side, protect your head with your hand and elbow.
After the punch passes, quickly roll your body back to the original position, pinning the assailant’s arm.

Slip your pinning arm under his throat whilst the other arm swing round from the back behind his neck.

Secure the choke by clasping both your hands together. Apply added pressure by pressing your head against his. Wrap your legs around his waist to stop him wriggling or kneeing you whilst you cut off his breath.

I cannot recollect when I started but virtually my whole adult life - learning largely informally. The particular kick I told you about which I excel in is the reverse hook (also known as the spinning kick) - and the reason why I do it well is largely because I have been doing it since I was small.

Yes you are right - martial arts is about self-discovery. There maybe many of us who will train our whole lives but never ever use our skills - but that's really besides the point, isn't it ? It's about the discipline, the passion, the interest, the spirituality. I'm almost describing chess !

Quite interesting stuff!  How long have you been a martial artist?
