Good afternoon Manny. Could not access any words on your blog about techniques (presumably) of shutting up a liar.
Now in my experience, people of influence such as Politicians, Doctors even, certainly Psychiatrists, and definitely Barristers/Lawers, Coppers, Ministers of Religion from whatever branch of Christianity, are all compelled to tell lies. As to how you shut them up is problematical. The lies, good and bad, are a tool of their trades, and without exaggeration, which is certainly lying, they could not best perform their duties and achieve their objects which are mostly monetary reward.
No bigger liars than Financial Advisors whose livelihood is so dependent on consistent make believe and pursuasion. The Credit Crunch is all about liars and those who have, and still are befefitting hugely from their participation in cheating others with their lies.
To temper the lies of those who make personal gain by telling fibs, is perhaps by threats of severe punishment as and when the liars are caught out. Take their ill gotten gains resulting from their lying, away from them. Deprive them and their families of the goodies being enjoyed, preferably just at the point in time say when they are about to enjoy savouring their unjust rewards from their lies.
It is a subject that may have a lot of appeal, or one which people will shy away from. I have met and done business with so many people who have blatantly lied to make gains or to 'get off the hook' as it were.
