English is my second language.  But to be in your shoes, it's like me studying how to speak Japanese!  I've given up studying it since I've no one who can speak Japanese to talk with.  Then I bought a book about the Korean language.  I got interested in learning how to speak Korean since I got plenty of friends (Koreans) and the author of that book said that the best way to learn a new language is to go to the market.  The market is the best language teacher.  Salespersons, most of the time, would be very gracious in correcting your grammar so you can understand each other better.  And compared to Japanese and Korean, English is more universal - watching movies (with captions) and rehearsing the dialogues will greatly improve your english speaking.

Follow their advise, read a lot of English materials, focus on syntax.  Good luck!

Learning any language is a challenge, but I find English to be very challenging.  I have one very strong recommendation for you to begin with.  I have an axiom which over the years has continually been reinforced to be very accurate.

"We write the way we speak."  I would suggest that the fastest and easier method of learning English is to practice speaking English with individual(s) who can correct your errors and perhaps also furnish you with the grammatical rules.  However, the more proficient you are in speaking grammatically correct English the easier it should be for you to learn how to write it correctly, particularly in a classroom setting.  It is easy to correct written English but I do not see the benefit of knowing how to write English correctly if an individual cannot speak English fluently.

A fifteen minute conversation in English will be extremely helpful.  (Of course the conversation should be conducted in correctly spoken English).  The best description of what is proper English is: the formal standard English.  FSEnglish is universal.  Formal standard English is used in most publications such as, books, magazines, trade journals etc.   Where the differences arise are when idiomatic English is spoken and regional and or national words are used.  However, the idiomatic differences would not be that overwhelming where you would not be able to understand the speaker.  However, English spoken in different accents and peppered with slang and jargon may cause a problem in effective communication.

Please feel free to ask be for any assistance I may be able to offer.

Ignatius Jacques Reilly

p.s.  English, the language is always spelled with a capital "E" as is the personal pronoun "I" not "i".  Texting and e-mail have also contributed to the "uneducation" (neologism) of the English language.

Rakhmanator,

Your message could have been written with better English.

Hi everybody!  This summer, I am going to Greece to coach and play in three tournaments.  Of course, you will know about my results in those tournaments.  I will have a lot of time and have an idea of writing a book!  Don't laugh.  I am really going to write a book!  I want to write it in English, but my English is not very good.  So, who can help me improve my English?  I want to know English better!  Leave a message.  I will look at all offers.  Thanks for the attention.

Aleksandr

P.S.  Your rating must also be over 2400

Just a little spoof.  You are doing fine.
