What's your purpose?

Hello to all of the chess players out there!  I have a question that keeps coming to mind as I play my fellow players.  What is your purpose?  Are you playing just for the heck of it or are you playing to improve?  One guy I played said that a win is a win...it's just a game.  Is it really?  A win is nothing if you don't learn and improve from it.  I regularly give critique as I play to help players think about the moves they're making, even if it means that I loose.  So I ask you...are you playing with a purpose or not?  If not, get the heck out of the website until you are.

It's not about being unfriendly.  I just like to see people playing for a reason.  Just farting around playing chess will do no one any good.  Learn from your wins and losses.
