Why do Players Delay Tournaments and Matches?

Submitted by CerneAbbas on Sun, 09/20/2009 at 9:15pm.

I have noticed that players purposely delay tournaments and matches especially when they have lost positions. E.G. a month to get through the first five moves of an opening or down a piece then instead of a move a day they wait until there is an hour on their clock to make a move. Another problem is a player hold up a tournament bewing the only one in a grid without completing a game. Is it ego(look everyone is watching me) or do people purposely want to irritate other players.?

You are very much correct my friend some people out of talent can not figure out what to do, just keep on hanging, praying for the opponent to neglect their game and lost out of time forfiet..  how disgusting

If you consider the situation rationally, there are plenty of alternative possibilities.
