Wild Wild French

I recently completed a wildly tactical game against the French, including a sacrifice of a whole rook to generate an attack on the king. By all rights I could have lost this game on a few different occasions, but it's easy to slip up when your king is being chased on an open board. Eventually this is what happened to my opponent.

Playing against the French is already unusual for me because I play 1. d4. But after seeing 1. d4 e6 and having played the French myself many years ago and occasionally still today I decided what the heck and played 2. e4. No doubt this played into the desires of my opponent who handled the opening very well.

Without further ado, the annotated game:

mrsoccerchessman, yeah, I sure did make a few mistakes in the opening. I tried to say that in the annotations.  Especially 16. Rfe1? That was a real doozy. Must not have eaten my wheaties that day. While black certainly did let me off the hook, finding 21. Rxe5+ is still something of a miracle and the ensuing king chase is rather interesting despite the fact that it takes a few mistakes by white to get to mate instead of a draw.
