Let's start with a basic question for beginners:
How can black win the white queen?

Answer:

Re2+

So we agree that black can win the white queen. Now another interesting question can be asked: Should black win the white queen?
After taking the queen you end up in an endgame of two rooks and bishop vs queen and bishop. (plus the pawns)
Would you play Re2+ and take the queen but lose the rook?  Or do you want to keep the rook?

In an endgame of queen and bishop vs rooks and bishop , which side do you prefer?

post your idea's please!

the diagram says white to move, I'd just take black's bishop and enjoy the moment.Wink

on a more serious note:  after Re2+ Bxe2 Qx g8  Bxg4 Qxg4, it no longer is a game of queen and bishop vs 2 rooks, bishop and extra pawns.   it is now a game of queen king and 4 pawns    vs two rooks and bishop and 7 pawns - possibly 5, depending on black's moves.  however, the extra pawns are clearly passed pawns supported by rooks behind them, and there is little black can do to slow white's pawn advance down, once white untangles (develops) his undeveloped rook.

I think I'd much prefer to play white in this position, as the extra pawns will tell in the end.  white has material to give away while black has only one mobile piece remaining.
