TOURNAMENT!! TOURNAMENT

Submitted by warwind on Mon, 11/19/2007 at 9:50pm.

Tournament ! Tournament! That was what my father use to say every Sunday after lunch when i was still a kid at 10  years of age.  My brothers , sisters, and even cousins will then play chess for the jackpot prize my father will provide at the end of the tourney. Of course my father will win the tournament again and again.  I said then its so unfair and our strentgh was so far behind that of my father.  But then we discover something as little kids because there were several chess books around the  house...I can still remember their titles, "Great moments of Modern Chess  by Reuben Fine, Chess life and Review, Best Games of Keres, and so on. Each of us  then began to study their chosen books. Perhaps I had been more studious and consistent in studying the  games of Mikhail Botvinnik that  no sooner than  that  i began to win  our family tournament! Thats started my interest and love for chess. It was fun reminiscing those days and I love to say to my own family one day, " Tournament, Tournament first prize 500 pesos!  ;0

Boyet_Tardecilla,

"Hello! Sir Bancod, Do you know Dr. Bong Perez of San Carlos, Pangasinan?"

Perhaps,  his name sounds familiar...I havent been home to Pangasinan for quite a time.

Hiya,

Your early interest in the game is admirable and certainly is a model for all young people who wish to develop at chess.
