EASTER

Easter will be soon upon us and the tradition of the easter bunny, giving easter eggs and hot cross buns will overwhelm us with delight!

But these traditions, where did they come from? What do they all mean?

Many christians will tell you, it represents the rebirth of christ and to a point, thats true but it is actually a pagan festival celebrating the birth of spring. A month (april) was dedicated to the goddess of fertility Eastre. She was often seen with a hare and the rabbit is a symbol of fertility so thats why we now have the easter bunny.

The pagans also painted eggs bright colours to represent the sunlight of spring and today these are in the form of chocalate eggs again christians would have you believe this represents the rebirth of christ.

Hot cross buns also where around at the pagan celebrations, these represented the four quarters of the moon and not the crucifixition of christ.

I  hope you all have a great easter, and thanks for reading this!

bye for now wayne.
