Improve Your Rating- Week of 5/18/09

First of all, sorry for being incredibly late. AP exams, debates, weekend ultimate tournaments, and a hectic life have kept me from spending much time here during the last month or so. Hopefully that is all over now, so I can continue blogging.
This week's topic: Perpetual moves
In a recent game, I was able to draw a much better opponent by perpetual moves. Perpetual moves are always something you should look for is a losing end(or middle)game. They are usually peformed by a queen, rook, bishop, or knight. Much of the time it is a series or perpetual checks on a king, but it can also be a lesser piece, as in the game.
A basic perpetual check:
Following is an exanple from one of my recent games. After an up and down stuggle, I emerged in a losing position. However, I found a way to keep attacking his rook with my knight, so the game was drawn.
