First of all, sorry for being incredibly late.  AP exams, debates, weekend ultimate tournaments, and a hectic life have kept me from spending much time here during the last month or so.  Hopefully that is all over now, so I can continue blogging.

This week's topic: Perpetual moves

In a recent game, I was able to draw a much better opponent by perpetual moves.  Perpetual moves are always something you should look for is a losing end(or middle)game.  They are usually peformed by a queen, rook, bishop, or knight.  Much of the time it is a series or perpetual checks on a king, but it can also be a lesser piece, as in the game.

Following is an exanple from one of my recent games.  After an up and down stuggle, I emerged in a losing position.  However, I found a way to keep attacking his rook with my knight, so the game was drawn.

Awesome pink board.

I hope you enjoyed this week's lesson.  As usual, I encourage everyone to join Free Chess Help, a gorup designed to help lower-rated players.
